Installing AnansiBuild
Install the AnansiBuild Revit add-in on Revit 2026 or 2027. Use the .exe installer or extract the .zip bundle, then confirm the RohoSuite tab loads in your ribbon.
AnansiBuild is a Revit add-in that turns your model into a multi-color 3MF file ready to print on an FDM 3D printer. This page walks through what you need, how to install it, and how to confirm it worked.
AnansiBuild is currently in public beta — free to download and use while we collect feedback.
What you need
| Requirement | Detail | |---|---| | Operating system | Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) | | Revit | Revit 2026 or Revit 2027 | | Disk space | About 10 MB | | Slicer (recommended) | Bambu Studio for opening the exported 3MF |
AnansiBuild works on any FDM printer that accepts 3MF or STL output from Bambu Studio, but the multi-color metadata is tuned for Bambu Lab printers. See Printers and scales for the full printer list.
Choose your install method
There are two ways to install. Most people should use the installer.
Option 1 — Installer (recommended)
- Download
AnansiBuild-Setup.exefrom the downloads page. - Close all open Revit sessions. (The installer will warn you if Revit is still running.)
- Double-click the installer and follow the prompts. Default install location is fine.
- The installer registers AnansiBuild for every Revit version it detects on your machine.
The installer drops the add-in into %ProgramData%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\AnansiBuild.bundle and registers it with Revit's Application Plugin loader. Nothing else to configure.
Option 2 — Manual ZIP install
Use this if you don't have admin rights on your machine, or if you want to install just for your user account.
- Download
AnansiBuild-Bundle.zip. - Extract the ZIP — you should end up with a folder called
AnansiBuild.bundle. - Copy that folder into one of these locations:
- All users: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\
- Current user only: %AppData%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\
- Confirm the path looks like
...\ApplicationPlugins\AnansiBuild.bundle\Contents\withPackageContents.xmlat the root of the bundle folder.
First launch
- Open Revit.
- Look at the ribbon — you should see a RohoSuite tab.
- Click the tab. You'll see an AnansiBuild panel with an Export 3MF button.
Note on the ribbon button: In the current beta, the Export 3MF button is text-only — it shows the words "Export 3MF" stacked on two lines. A proper icon ships in a future build. If you don't see anything graphical, that's not a bug; that's the current state.
The first time you click Export 3MF, a welcome dialog appears with the title Welcome to AnansiBuild, the tagline Revit → 3D-printable 3MF, a short paragraph about the project, and two buttons: a yellow ☕ Buy me a coffee button and a Continue button. Donations are optional and keep the project free. Click Continue and you're in.
If the RohoSuite tab doesn't appear, see Troubleshooting.
Verify the install worked
A quick four-point checklist:
- [ ] RohoSuite tab is visible in the Revit ribbon.
- [ ] AnansiBuild panel is visible when you click the tab.
- [ ] Welcome dialog appears the first time you click Export 3MF (only on the very first run).
- [ ] The button enables when you have a 3D view open. (In a non-3D view it'll show a "Please run in a 3D view" message instead of opening the Preview Window — that's expected behavior, not a failure.)
If any of those don't check out, see Troubleshooting.
Working alongside other RohoSuite tools
AnansiBuild lives under a shared RohoSuite ribbon tab. If you also use other RohoSuite plugins (Newark Gen, RohoCalc), they all show up under the same tab as separate panels — no extra tabs cluttering your ribbon.
Updating
AnansiBuild does not auto-update and has no built-in update checker. To install a new version:
- Download the new installer from the downloads page.
- Close all Revit sessions.
- Run the new installer. It overwrites the old bundle and preserves your settings.json (last printer, scale, save folder, welcome-dialog state).
- Re-launch Revit. The new version is active.
To check which version you have installed, look at the welcome dialog (or the About entry in the bundle's PackageContents.xml). Version numbers don't appear in Revit's UI directly. Subscribe to the rohosuite.com mailing list (or check the page periodically) to be notified of releases.
Uninstalling
- If you used the installer: Uninstall from Windows Settings → Apps, the same as any other Windows program.
- If you used the ZIP method: Delete the
AnansiBuild.bundlefolder from yourApplicationPluginsdirectory.
To also remove your saved preferences, delete %AppData%\RohoSuite\AnansiBuild\.
Multiple Revit versions
The bundle ships with separate builds for Revit 2026 (.NET 8) and Revit 2027 (.NET 10). Revit picks the right build automatically based on which version you launch — no extra steps from you.
